Message from the President & CEO

I greet you with great excitement as we celebrate our 27th anniversary. During the past year, I have often reflected on the 27 year history of Hopewell Center.  I have watched the center's gradual growth:

• from 5 basic services to 26 different programs and services,

• from a staff of  3 to 130 full time employees

• from a budget on $700,000 to $7 million.

The challenges of changes in the mental health field, the increased involvement of clients and significant others in care and treatment, the stigma against persons with mental health needs, issues related to providing care to persons residing in the urban core, have all served to increase my commitment to carry out the mission of Hopewell Center.

We have had a very productive 27 years, and we look forward to continuing to build better lives through hope, help, and support.  I thank the very competent staff, the supportive Board of Directors, the clients who entrust their care to us, other provider agencies, volunteers, the Coalition of Community Mental Health Centers, and our funders.  Your work and support will assist us in providing quality service to the mentally ill.  We look forward to our continued collaborative efforts as a means of ensuring that our next 27 years are even brighter.
